BARNSTAPLE BAPTIST CHURCH - Serving Jesus Christ in Barnstaple and North Devon
About Us

We are a fellowship of Christians who believe we are called by God the Father, saved by God the Son and empowered by God the Holy Spirit to serve Him within Barnstaple, in North Devon and to the ends of the earth.

There has been a Baptist church building in Boutport Street since 1833, but, while the exterior has remained relatively unchanged over the intervening 176 years, the sanctuary is modern and very appropriate for a lively, worshipping community.

Our Sunday worship is contemporary, whilst remaining true to age-old Christian tradition.  We sing new Christian songs, together with the great hymns of faith - the words being displayed on the screen at the front. Song books are available for those who might need them.  Our services are at 10.30 a.m. & 6.30 p.m. (see our What's On page for more information).

Our Minister is Rev. David Hughes (M.Th, B.Ed), who trained at Spurgeon's College in London and, after previous ministries at Tottlebank BC in Cumbria and Wellingborough BC in Northants, was inducted to the pastorate at Barnstaple in May 2008.

David is also Club Chaplain at Barnstaple Town FC, who play in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, and a member of SCORE, the sports chaplaincy organisation.  Click here to go to the Barnstaple Town FC website and here for the SCORE website.
